AQE Consultant Team

Academic Quality & Excellence is dedicated to enhancing teaching effectiveness and supporting research initiatives across all UCN programs. The AQE Consultant Team serves as a resource for:

Curriculum and Program Development and Review

  • Facilitate the program review process, including review of process
  • Assist faculty in continuous improvement of curricula and academic programs
  • Assist in the development of new and revised course and programs

Promote excellence in teaching

  • Offer workshops and seminars to enhance teaching effectiveness
    • Teaching, learning and designing for effective practices is based in research.

AQE actively supports the review of academic research, its implementation within course design, as well as participation in research projects grounded within the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL)

  • Provide resources and guidance on teaching strategies, assessment methods, active learning, etc.
    • Professional Development enhances faculty members' knowledge, skills, and effectiveness as educators through ongoing learning, reflection, and exposure to innovative teaching practices and research advancements
  • Support faculty to deliver inclusive and accessible courses

Work with faculties to have courses and programs include

  • Course Learning Outcomes
  • Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
  • Land-based learning
  • Experiential / work-integrated learning
  • Digital technologies
  • Connections to industry required skills and knowledge

Oversee UCN Learn – our Learning Management System (LMS)

UCN Learn is the customized version of the LMS Brightspace currently in use at UCN.  It is an online course environment that allows instructors to deliver course materials, communicate with students, and create learning activities and assessments.  UCNLearn can be used for distance education courses or to supply an online component for traditional face-to-face courses.  

  • Maintain platform
  • Resolve issues
  • Provide training to faculty and students on tools within the system

Promote digital technologies in teaching

  • Offer training on various educational software platforms
