Standard 6 – Technology

This standard focuses on the strategic use and technologies to support learning and communication.

    1. Integrate Technology Purposefully

Select and use technology tools that enhance student learning and engagement. Ensure that each

tool serves a clear instructional purpose and supports course learning outcomes.

    1. Utilize UCNLearn Effectively

Use UCNLearn as the central platform for organizing course content, collecting assignments, and

            tracking student progress.

    1. Support Student Digital Literacy

Ensure students are aware of and have access to the technical skills and knowledge required to use

course technologies effectively. Take responsibility to provide instruction, links to training materials,

tutorials, or support services as needed. Develop a reciprocal approach to digital literacy by having

students share their knowledge and skills.

    1. Communicate Minimum Technology Requirements

Clearly state the minimum technology requirements (e.g., hardware, software, internet access,

browser compatibility) at the beginning of the course.

    1. Ensure Technology is Accessible and Inclusive

Select technologies that meet accessibility standards and are usable by all students, including those

who use assistive technologies. Where needed, provide alternative means of access or support.

Demonstrate respect by ensuring the technology usage does not create unnecessary barriers for

            students.

    1. Provide Guidance on the Use of AI Tools

Clearly communicate expectations regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the course.

  • Specify which AI tools, if any, are permitted for learning or assessment purpose.
  • Provide guidance on appropriate, ethical use aligned with academic integrity policies.
  • Help students critically evaluate the capabilities and limitations of AI tools in academic contexts.
