- Use Traditional Territorial Land Acknowledgement meaningfully not as a performative task.
- Provide opportunity to introduce themselves and their community, as they feel comfortable.
- Create opportunities for students to build connections with one another and with the instructor to help foster a sense of belonging and community.

- Create and Distribute the Course Outline
Prepare and provide a course outline in accordance with Policy AC-03-03 (Course Outlines).
- Ensure the course outline includes the official calendar description and approved learning outcomes as authorized by Learning Council.
- Post the outline in UCNLearn.
- Refer to it regularly throughout the term to reinforce structure and expectations.

- Clear Design in UCNLearn
Ensure the UCNLearn course shell is organized for intuitive navigation and easy access to course materials and activities. Faculty are encouraged to use the UCNLearn AQE Course Template as a guide to ensure consistency and quality across courses.

- Provide Student a Course Orientation
Begin the course with a welcoming orientation or overview that helps students understand what to
expect and how to navigate the course successfully.

- Communicate Course Expectations and Key Information
Clearly articulate course expectations, including:
- Learning activities and participation requirements
- Student and instructor responsibilities
- Evaluation and assessment methods
- Grading scale
- Course schedule and key dates
- Communication protocols (e.g., response time, method)
- Required technology and digital tools
- Academic integrity, accessibility, and institutional policies
- Create relevance by connecting course content to student’s lives and learning goals.
