This standard emphasizes the importance of selecting and using high-quality, relevant, current, and engaging instructional materials.
|
Choose instructional materials that are current, credible, and aligned with the course learning outcomes. Ensure materials are appropriate for the academic level and support student achievement of key concepts and skills. Include Indigenous authored texts, knowledges, and resources.
Incorporate a variety of instructional resources (e.g., readings, videos, diagrams, podcasts, simulations) to accommodate different learning needs and to enhance student engagement.
Select materials that align with and support learning in other courses within the program. Reinforce key concepts, terminology, and academic practices consistently across the curriculum.
Design and select materials with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles in mind to ensure accessibility for all students. Provide materials in formats that are screen-reader friendly and offer alternatives when needed.
Keep course content up to date, inclusive, and relevant by regularly reviewing instructional materials for accuracy, cultural responsiveness, and alignment with evolving disciplinary standards.
Demonstrate ethical academic practices by properly citing all sources used in instructional content and by using open or licensed materials when appropriate.
Ensure that selected materials include diverse cultural, social, and disciplinary perspectives, fostering an inclusive learning environment that reflects multiple worldviews and lived experiences. Demonstrate reciprocity by co-creating or adapting materials with input from learners, communities and Elders. |
